MANAHAWKIN, NEW JERSEY

Information :  Manahawkin Lake Park is the location of their annual BATTLE OF CEDAR BRIDGE.  It also features a crafts fair with a flair for older things (not necessarily historical).  It was in this area where the Battle of Cedar Bridge, the last recorded battle of the American Revolution, took place in New Jersey, in late 1782.  John Bacon and a small band of loyalists engaged the Burlington County Militia.

Directions :

From Philadelphia: The event is being held at Manahawkin Lake in Deer Lake Park, Manahawkin, New Jersey, just North of the Route 9 & 72 intersection.  Take I-676 over the Ben Franklin bridge to Route 30 East.  There will be a short jaunt onto Route 38 East until you pick up Route 70 East.  26 miles later transfer to Route 72 East. Stay on this road for another 23 miles then take US 9 North.  Deer Lake Park will be on your left after the first intersection.  Driving time from Center City is approximately 2 hours and is roughly 55 miles.

From North Philadelphia: Take the PA Turnpike I-276 East to the New Jersey Turnpike North.  Take Exit 7 to Route 206 South for 17 miles to the Red Lion Circle.  Transfer to Route 70 East.  26 miles later transfer to Route 72 East. Stay on this road for another 23 miles then take US 9 North.  Deer Lake Park will be on your left after the first intersection.  Driving time from the New Jersey Turnpike interchange is approximately 1 hour 25 minutes and is roughly 48 miles.
